Cedar Brook Skilled Memory Support Community

Cedar Brook Skilled Care (49 beds) is designed for Residents with end stage dementia or related disease as needs increase. It provides a smooth transition as a stage of dementia progresses. The Cedar Brook Skilled Care neighborhood on the 2nd floor of the Glen also provides a cozy, family-like environment where sensory stimulation, exercise and reminiscing are the main focus.

A specially trained team provides 24/7 supervision with activity and exercise programs that incorporate the latest advances in the treatment of memory-related impairments and ensure the best possible quality of life. Licensed Practical Nurses provide health monitoring and medication administration. Certified Nursing Aides provide round-the-clock care including assistance with bathing, dressing and grooming.

Semi-private and private rooms are offered in Cedar Brook Skilled Care. Semi-private and private rooms include a bathroom with shower and are furnished with a bed, chair, nightstand table with lamp, dresser and stand alone closet, however Residents can provide their own furniture. Rates for a semi-private room are $293 and private rooms range from $336 - $586. Rooms include housekeeping, linens and towels, assistance with daily living activities, medication assistance and three meals served daily in our elegant dining rooms. Cable and telephone services are available at an additional charge. Access to the internet is also available in the rooms at no charge.

Therapeutic Engagement Programming includes planned activities of interest and outings to various areas of the local community and around Lancaster County. There are also social events held throughout the year to keep Residents active. Some activities and outings include exercises, musical activities, religious and prayer groups, crafts, movie nights and country rides to area restaurant, farms and other areas of interest. Activities are geared to stimulate the minds of Residents and keep them focused and in touch with their daily lives. A beautifully landscaped courtyard is available to Residents and families on the Skilled Care neighborhood. The secured courtyard provides an opportunity to enjoy the weather or walking path or for Residents to plant flowers. Resident picnics and other activities are also held outside in the courtyard.

Family Care Conferences are held quarterly. These meetings provide an opportunity to share information related to the Resident’s clinical, psychosocial and therapeutic engagement process. Quarterly Resident/Family Council Meetings are also held at Cedar Brook. These meetings provide families with educational information on dementia and related diseases, and allow families to ask questions, voice concerns or make suggestions for the program. This level of interaction allows families to get to know the Cedar Brook Team Members and meet other Residents and their families.
